River City Auto Salvage is a self-service auto salvage yard on Water St in St. Louis. They sell used auto parts, scrap metal, and recycled vehicle components. Customers can browse the inventory, remove parts themselves, and pay by weight for what they take. The yard also handles scrap metal recycling and vehicle dismantling.

Services & What to Expect

River City Auto Salvage is a self-service operation. Customers find and remove their own parts from the yard’s inventory. The selection includes engines, transmissions, bumpers, radiators, tires, rims, and other mechanical components. Some parts may come from older or classic vehicles, which can be harder to find elsewhere.

How Self-Service Works

Customers enter the yard, locate the parts they need, and remove them using their own tools. Payment is based on weight—you pay for the parts you take. The yard provides basic tools like wrenches and pry bars, but customers should bring their own if they need specialized equipment. Staff can help with part locations or compatibility.

What to Bring

  • Tools (if you don’t plan to use the yard’s basic tools)
  • Gloves and safety gear (the yard is a working scrap environment)
  • A vehicle or trailer to transport parts (some parts are heavy or bulky)
  • Cash or a payment method accepted by the yard (confirm before visiting)

I did a huge flooring job for this guy at a house he uses as his office, and he still hasn’t paid me. I put in new backer board, screwed down the subfloor, sanded all the high spots so the vinyl planks wouldn’t buckle, laid fresh 3/4-inch plywood everywhere, installed paneling and trim in two rooms, and ran baseboards in every room except the bathroom. I was supposed to get a Ford F-550 truck as payment, but it needed work, so I backed out. He kept shaking my hand, saying he’d pay me in cash—*his word*. That was three months ago. So far, I’ve gotten $450 out of $3,857. Don’t waste your time with Begad Bajric. The man’s a deadbeat when it comes to money. ---

The guy on the phone wouldn’t even answer my questions—just hung up. No help, no effort, just a wasted call. Terrible service. ---

I called these people because someone was supposed to pick up my car at 11 AM. I got one guy on the phone, but he cut me off mid-sentence and said, *"I’ll call the driver."* Then nothing. No call, no driver, no answer when I tried back. Now I can’t even get someone to pick up the damn phone. Absolute joke. Avoid this place. ---

Called to ask about a part, and the guy just *hung up* before I could even finish my question. No explanation, no "hold on," just dead air. If this is how they treat customers, I’d rather take my business somewhere else. ---

I called because reviews said they sold parts, but the second I asked about a specific one, the woman on the phone shut me down: *"No, we don’t have it. No, we don’t sell parts."* What’s the point of a salvage yard if they don’t even *try* to help? Ridiculous.
