Overview

Adkins Recycling at 1010 Blue Bluff Rd, Martinsville, IN

Adkins Recycling is a self-service auto salvage yard and scrap metal recycling center in Martinsville, Indiana. Located at 1010 Blue Bluff Rd, the business offers used auto parts for DIY repairs and scrap metal recycling for both individuals and businesses. Customers can search the yard on their own to find parts or salvage materials. While the yard doesn’t have online reviews, it’s a local go-to for affordable auto parts and metal recycling.

Services & What to Expect

Adkins Recycling runs two main operations: a self-service auto salvage yard and scrap metal recycling. The salvage yard holds used parts from different vehicle makes and models, so customers can find and remove what they need themselves. You’ll find engines, transmissions, body panels, and interior components here. The yard doesn’t offer part searches or staff help—you’ll need to locate and pull parts on your own.

For scrap metal recycling, the business takes ferrous and non-ferrous metals, including car parts, appliances, and construction materials. Customers can drop off scrap for recycling, and the yard may pay for certain metals depending on market prices. Adkins Recycling processes metals for reuse, cutting down on landfill waste.

What to Bring:

  • Tools for removing parts (if salvaging auto parts)
  • A payment method (cash or card, depending on the service)
  • A valid ID (may be needed for scrap metal transactions)
  • A vehicle to haul parts or scrap

What to Know Before Visiting:

  • The yard is self-service—staff don’t help with part searches.
  • Parts are sold as-is, with no warranties or guarantees.
  • Scrap metal prices change with market demand.
  • You’re responsible for safely removing and transporting parts.

Oneals is the only place I’ll take my scrap metal now. Adkins tried to lowball me, but Oneals gave me a fair price and even helped me unload—something Adkins never bothered with. The extra drive is worth it just to avoid dealing with Adkins again. Their staff is actually friendly, which is more than I can say for the other place. ---

If you’re looking for auto parts, skip this place. They make it hard to find what you need, and good luck getting a quick reply about parts. They don’t even carry used car batteries. The only thing they’re decent for is aluminum cans. Save yourself the hassle and go somewhere else.

The lot is so cramped back there that I had to pull my trailer out twice just to get reweighed. The third time, I had to back down the ramp because someone else blocked the way, and my trailer jackknifed—ripped two holes in my car. My grandkids said the guys outside were laughing about it when they came out of the office. I didn’t hear it, but I’m not happy. The whole setup is unsafe, and the attitude from the staff is terrible. I’m calling the owner tomorrow—this isn’t acceptable. $500 deductible or small claims, and I’ll be back with an update. ---

I don’t have anything to compare them to, but they seem honest and treat people right. They take e-waste, scrap metal, aluminum cans—you name it. Can’t complain about the service so far. ---
